ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

At EAR Properties, we believe that a healthy economy will be created by making responsible choices in regards to the natural environment. We must re-design our practices in order to live harmoniously our ecological and man-made environments.
The real estate industry will have to confront difficult choices. We are poised and prepared to take on the challenges that will come in transitioning into a green economy.
In addition to small steps we can take to waste less and use products that are ecologically safe (see below), we are continuously looking at new means and methods to live in a energy efficient and environmentally conscious way.
We are a member of the USGBI.

SOME ENERGY FACTS:

-In the United States, residential units consume 22% of the nation’s energy and causes 20% of its green house gas emissions.

-Replacing six interior incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescents can keep 566 pounds of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and save you about $30 each year.

-An ENERGY STAR qualified compact fluorescent light bulb will pay for itself in about 6 months. It uses 75 percent less energy and lasts about 10 times longer than an incandescent bulb.

-The average U.S. household puts about 35,000 pounds of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere each year

-Installing solar panels to capture the energy of the sun is one of the best ways to improve your home value. Today's solar systems for solar heating are highly efficient, and easy to install.

-In one hour more sunlight falls on the earth than what is used by the entire population in one year.

-The incentive applies to owners and tenants of eligible buildings and tenant spaces which meet certain "green" standards. These standards increase energy efficiency, improve indoor air quality, and reduce the environmental impacts of large commercial and residential buildings in New York State, among other benefits.

-Your dishwasher uses less water than washing dishes by hand. Then let dishes air-dry to save even more!

Be aware of electromagnetic radiation:

-Televisions and clocks by your bed all produce waves from the motion of electronically charged particles otherwise known as electromagnetic radiation.

Water harvesting:

-It is a method of collecting, storing, and conserving rainwater for use.

-The water is free; the only cost is for collection and use.
